YAM is the seed syllable for the fourth chakra, the anahata chakra, located at our heart center. By chanting "YAM" (pronounced "Y-AHHH-M" not like yam the vegetable), we open our hearts and minds to the mantra, "I love". Anahata in Sanskrit translates to "unhurt" or "unstruck." Located at the midpoint between our upper and lower chakras, anahata integrates, fuses, and honors our individual mix of matter and spirit.
This is what we hope to do together in our student group YAM. We endeavor to cultivate love and gratitude on College Hill and beyond.
Our student-taught classes are all donation based, with a suggested donation of $3/class.
Please join our email listserv and Facebook group for schedule updates. We do not update the website every week, but we update via email and Facebook.
Please email Maya Cratsley at Maya_Cratsley@brown.edu to be added to the listserv.
